Question: VC++ support for new Common Control
Wong Kok Wai -- wongkw@pacific.net.sg Saturday, October 12, 1996 Environment: Win95, VC++ 4.2b I have downloaded and applied the patch vc42b from Microsoft web site. To my disappointment, the commctrl header and library still do not support the new Common Control found in IE3. The patched header file is dated 6 Sept which is definitely newer than the one on the VC++ 4.2 CD-ROM. And the readme on the web claims the latest ActiveX SDK components are included. As I am trying to compile the samples from MSJ Oct and Nov issues, I like to know where I can obtain the latest header and library file. In addition, I like to write my own MFC extensions for these new common controls. Any idea how soon the MFC will be updated to support them? If the wait is not too long, I would rather wait. Thank you.

Of course they don't: the common controls you're referring to are still in beta and not yet part of any shipping SDK. >Any idea how soon the MFC will be updated to support them? MFC won't be updated to handle new common controls until there really are new common controls. The common controls are in beta: they aren't shipping yet, and are subject to change. .B ekiM http://www.nwlink.com/~mikeblas/ Don't look at my hands: look at my _shoulders_! These words are my own. I do not speak on behalf of Microsoft.
